It's been less than a week since the 2024 regular season came to an end, and the news from New England has been flying out left and right. Since they decided to fire Jerod Mayo, their head coaching search has picked it up big time.

The early favorite for the gig is Mike Vrabel, who is reportedly interested in bringing in Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator. They are slated to interview Detroit's Ben Johnson on Friday but all the early reports are pointing in Vrabel's direction.

While all of this is happening in New England, other teams are making moves along their coaching staffs and front office. On Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders fired GM Tom Telesco, days after they parted ways with HC Antonio Pierce. With new leadership slated to take over in the coming weeks, the Patriots could have a chance to trade for WR Jakobi Meyers and bring him back to New England.

Patriots Should Call Raiders Regarding Jakobi Meyers

Meyers came into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and signed with the Patriots. Over four seasons with the Pats, he finished with 235 catches (344 targets) for 2,758 yards and eight touchdowns.

During free agency in 2023, Meyers left New England and signed with the Raiders on a three-year, $33 million deal. He was willing to re-sign with the Pats, but reportedly, New England offered him a deal that was $1 million less than what Las Vegas offered, and the Pats wouldn't budge.

New England then turned around and gave Juju Smith-Schuster a three-year, $25.5 million, which aged poorly for them.

The Patriots need help at WR and Meyers could provide them with a quality WR2. In two seasons with the Raiders, Meyers had 158 catches, 1,834 yards, and 12 touchdowns, including his first-ever 1,000-yard campaign in 2024.

He has one year left on his deal, with a $14.9 million cap hit in 2025. Meyers is a player who would improve the passing attack and has familiarity with the organization. New England would be wise to call Las Vegas and see what it would take to bring Meyers back to Foxborough.
