Patriots fans are thrilled to finally have Drake Maye under center. Even though the New England Patriots are 1-5 for the season, there is more hope for the future of the franchise after the No. 3 overall pick showed impressive flashes in Week 6.

Another rookie the fanbase has been desperately hoping to see more of is the fourth-round pick Javon Baker. The dynamic athlete has been a healthy scratch since Week 3 and only has six offensive snaps for the season.

The Patriots offense has been lackluster to begin the season, scoring only 83 points in six games and averaging a miserable 4.3 yards per play. Patriots fans hope that the addition of the talented rookie would give receiver corps more life.

They may unfortunately have to wait a little longer. Ahead of the Week 7 matchup against the Jaguars in London, Baker missed Friday's practice with an illness, per Patriots insider Mark Daniels.

Patriots News: WR Javon Baker Misses Practice on Friday

Demario Douglas has built an instant connection with Drake Maye in the rookie's first start. Kayshon Boutte has been steadily increasing his snap count while Kendrick Bourne has returned from his injury and is slowly getting integrated into the offense.

The Patriots have preferred to run two tight end sets with Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper in the absence of elite wideouts.

Baker certainly has a chance to crack this rotation. This illness is a minor setback for the former UCF standout but we will most likely get to see more of him as the season progresses.
