The New England Patriots have made it a mission to add more talent to this roster this offseason. With Mike Vrabel at the helm, the Pats have been able to drastically improve the roster.
On Day 1, the Pats selected OT Will Campbell to help bolster the offensive line, and they continued to add to the offensive side of the ball on Day 2. To kick off Round 2, they added RB TreVeyon Henderson, who could be bad news for Antonio Gibson.
They continued the emphasis to make life easier for Drake Maye and selected Washington State WR Kyle Williams with the No. 69 overall pick. The Pats brought Williams in for a pre-draft visit and decided they wanted to make him a Patriot.
The California native is explosive off the line of scrimmage with quick cuts in and out of his breaks. He also does a great job tracking the ball downfield. This past season at Washington State, he posted career-highs in receptions (70), receiving yards (1,198), and receiving touchdowns (14). Williams provides them with a young and dynamic weapon, but that may put veteran receiver Kendrick Bourne on the trade block.
In March 2024, Bourne and the Pats agreed on a three-year, $19.5 million deal. He's spent the past four years in New England, giving them a veteran playmaker in the room. In 53 games with the Pats, Bourne has posted 155 receptions for 1,945 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. The 29-year-old has failed to record more than 434 receiving yards for the past three years.
With Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Javon Baker, Mack Hollins, and Ja'Lynn Polk in the receiver room, Bourne is someone who could get moved. He's signed through the 2026 season but teams have an out after 2025. If he were released, the team would only get hit with a $2.8 million dead cap hit.
Regardless, teams around the league are always looking for depth pieces at WR, and with the abundance that New England has now, Bourne is the perfect trade asset.
