When it comes to moving on from NFL Draft "busts", there are few teams in the NFL these days who have been as quick on the trigger as the New England Patriots. We've seen the Patriots take a pretty hard line against the guys they feel are not working well within their system lately, including the team getting rid of the likes of 2021 first-round pick Mac Jones for the low price of a late-round pick in the 2024 offseason.

With the Patriots in a borderline ruthless mood when it comes to their recent NFL Draft picks, what other NFL Draft "busts" could end up getting cut or moved in the 2024 offseason?

1. Chad Ryland, kicker

Anytime you draft a kicker, the pressure is going to be on because typically the best kickers in the NFL are not drafted guys. When you draft a kicker, especially in the fourth round, that player is going to be expected to be absolutely lights out.

And there's just something about putting that kind of pressure on drafted kickers that doesn't seem to work out well.

The Patriots brought in competition for 2023 fourth-round pick Chad Ryland this offseason in the form of Joey Slye. Ryland missed nine field goals and an extra point last year, and out of his nine missed field goals, seven of them came inside of 50 yards. That's unacceptable.

Ryland is going to need to prove himself to be consistent this offseason if he's going to keep his job with the Patriots and not bounce around the waiver wire.
