2. Anyone hoping to have a shot at the starting LT job

Anyone that's hoping to have a shot at the starting left tackle job currently on the New England Patriots' roster should be holding their breath every time the Patriots are on the clock in the 2024 NFL Draft.

And quite honestly, that begins with the 3rd overall pick.

If the Patriots end up passing on the quarterback position with the 3rd overall pick, one of the most likely alternate scenarios in that slot is that they would take Notre Dame's Joe Alt. It's also possible that if the Patriots take a haul in a trade-down scenario with a team like, say, the Minnesota Vikings, it's possible if not probable that the best player available at pick #11 overall would be an offensive tackle.

The Patriots brought back Mike Onwenu this offseason and while he's penciled in as the starting right tackle, they've also got Chukwuma Okorafor, formerly of the Steelers. Those two players could end up being their bookend starters this year, so players like Connor McDermott, Calvin Anderson, Vederian Lowe, and others shouldn't get too comfortable this month.

Even if the Patriots go quarterback at #3 overall, they could be looking at offensive tackles like Tyler Guyton, Jordan Morgan, and others being available in round two.
