2. Trade for Broncos OT Garett Bolles

The Patriots aren't going to be able to have their cake and eat it too in this year's NFL Draft. They are either going to have to take a QB of the future with the 3rd overall pick or move down and add assets elsewhere on the roster. They're not going to be able to get one of the top QB prospects and one of the best offensive tackle prospects, and this draft class is top-heavy at offensive tackle.

There are outstanding players that will likely go within the top 20-25 picks of this year's NFL Draft at the tackle position, and the Patriots could use at least one of them. They were able to bring back Mike Onwenu who has played well basically everywhere the Patriots have thrown him.

But if the Patriots are intent on using the 3rd overall pick at the quarterback position, could they keep the phone lines open with Denver and ask about left tackle Garett Bolles?

Bolles would provide a very solid baseline level of play at left tackle for the Patriots. That baseline level of play could be essential for a rookie quarterback's development.

New England lost Trent Brown in free agency to the Cincinnati Bengals, and if Bolles is available for a mid-round pick, it would be a great use of capital for New England to get a veteran like that to raise the floor of the position for at least a year.
