After months of excitement, speculations, and rumors, the door on the 2024 NFL Draft officially shut closed. New England had eight total selections in the three-day event and they added some serious talent to the roster.

It started with the selection of Drake Maye as the third overall pick from North Carolina. GM Eliot Wolf then focused on adding playmakers to surround his rookie quarterback.

The Pats nabbed pass-catchers Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, and Jaheim Bell. They also selected QB Joe Milton to add another arm to the quarterback room.

With all these moves, some players should be looking over their shoulders. Below we'll name four players who are thin ice following the 2024 NFL Draft.

1. La'Michael Pettway, TE

The Pats have a tight end room that consists of Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, Mitchell Wilcox, and the aforementioned Bell.

La'Michael Pettway was an undrafted free agent from the 2023 NFL Draft and signed with the Indianapolis Colts initially.

Pettway then signed with the Patriots practice squad during training camp. He never really carved out a role. He was signed to the 53-man roster before the finale against the New York Jets but he ended up not playing.

The 27-year-old hasn't recorded a single stat during his time in the NFL and with the additions that New England made this offseason, his time in New England could be coming to an end.

Henry, Hooper, Wilcox, and Bell, all provide more upside as pass-catchers and blockers. It's hard to envision Pettway being on the roster for the long haul.
