2. Bailey Zappe, quarterback

Well, this might be a little bit unfair because Bailey Zappe probably isn't technically on the roster "bubble" for the Patriots. Guys who are on the roster bubble actually have a chance at making it.

The Patriots have kept Zappe this offseason, which hasn't exactly done the former fourth-round pick any real favors. And honestly, what has it really done for the Patriots at this point? They might get some trade value out of Zappe, but they also might have been able to get at least a pick swap for him earlier in the offseason as well.

Zappe isn't getting a lot of reps at practice this offseason, which has undoubtedly been frustrating for him, and he's now getting a lot of reps in the preseason, which means fewer reps for the quarterbacks that will actually be making this New England roster.

It just feels like this whole situation with Zappe has been handled horrendously, but what do you do if you're Zappe? You just have to go out there and maximize every rep and every throw you get. The Patriots are certainly going to be fielding calls for Zappe in a potential trade, because if he hits waivers, a team that might actually want him could risk not getting him at all.

This saga is about to end, which will be merciful for Zappe. He's not on the Patriots' roster bubble, but when you look at a variety of other QB situations around the NFL, he could be considered on the roster bubble for a number of teams that might be considering him for a QB2 or QB3 candidate.
