6. Josh Uche/Anfernee Jennings, EDGE

The New England Patriots were able to pull off some surprising moves in 2024 free agency given the departure of Bill Belichick as the team’s head coach. It seemed like New England might be on its way to reloading all over the place, but they actually managed to keep around a lot of their own unrestricted free agents on both sides of the ball.

Maybe most surprising of all, the guys they retained this year included pass rushers Anfernee Jennings and Josh Uche, two players who could be major factors in the pass rush rotation once again this season.

Or, teams could be calling and trying to take one of them off New England’s hands. Maybe both.

The Patriots are hoping for a healthy year out of Matt Judon off the edge, and 2023 second-round pick Keion White is now a factor off the edge as well. The Patriots would probably rather keep their pass rush room loaded up for the season after Judon missed a bunch of time last year due to injury, but what if they get a big offseason from someone like Oshane Ximines or UDFA John Morgan III?

Anfernee Jennings signed back with the Patriots this offseason on a three-year deal worth just $12 million, an extremely team-friendly deal. Josh Uche re-signed for just one year and only $3 million. Again, extremely team-friendly.

Perhaps contract-wise, Uche would be the more likely trade candidate, but it wouldn’t be shocking at all to see the Patriots getting calls on both of these guys throughout the course of training camp and the preseason.
