3. Calvin Anderson, OT

With a couple of other offensive linemen slated to hit free agency, the situation surrounding 2023 free agent pickup Calvin Anderson is an interesting one, to say the least.

Anderson was a swing tackle for a few years for the Denver Broncos, someone they had identified as a possible developmental starter at the right tackle position. Unfortunately, Anderson never really got the opportunity to start in Denver, but the Patriots had really liked him. They were actually the first team to sign him coming out of Texas back in 2019 before the Jets picked him up, and the Broncos plucked him away from the Jets.

But when he finally got the opportunity to come to New England and potentially compete for a starting job, injuries prevented him from seizing that opportunity.

Even with both Trent Brown and Mike Onwenu hitting free agency this offseason, it just doesn't feel overly likely that the Patriots will bring Calvin Anderson back into the fold. At least, not at his current price. He's set to cost just under $4 million and while the Patriots would only save $1.5 million by cutting him, I think the idea of him being a starter in New England is far-fetched. Perhaps he's back as a swing guy, but I could easily see him being one of the next ones on the chopping block.
