6 Patriots Who Will Be Cut Next After Lawrence Guy and Adrian Phillips
4. Tyquan Thornton, WR
The Patriots could be doing a lot of really unfortunate admitting defeat of some recent high draft picks. We already talked about New England potentially moving on from Mac Jones, a first-round pick from the 2021 NFL Draft, but what about Tyquan Thornton?
Thornton was a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and has been one of the Patriots' bigger whiffs in recent years, which is saying something. He caught 13 passes for 91 yards this past season, Although the Patriots had their share of issues all over the offensive side of the ball, how is that even possible?
Well, for starters, Thornton is barely ever on the field. He appeared in just nine games this past season and played just 224 total snaps. For a former second-round pick entering his third year coming up here in the 2024 season, that's unacceptable. The guy has very little time on task.
Although Thornton has enviable speed and a combination of size to go along with it, the fact that he can't crack the rotation on a team that has bad receivers is telling. Perhaps a change of scenery is the only thing that will do it at this point. If some team would trade for Thornton, the Patriots could add $2 million.
