6. Deatrich Wise, DE (trade or cut candidate)

Deatrich Wise has been a really solid player for the New England Patriots since he came aboard the roster back in 2017 as a fourth-round pick. The former Arkansas star has carved out a really solid role for himself within the Patriots' defense, mostly as a part-time player throughout his career.

He's only played more than 60 percent of the Patriots' defensive snaps one time in his career, back in 2022, and it's not because of injuries. Wise has been available, for the most part, but the Patriots have deployed him pretty consistently as a rotational guy. He has played 57 percent of their snaps (or less) in every year of his NFL career except that 2022 campaign.

So, are the Patriots going to pay Wise over $7 million to continue to play a part-time role for them? Honestly, that's not really a bad price at all. They could save over $4.9 million by moving on from him, but Wise is too valuable to just cut. He had 4.5 sacks last season along with 6 QB hits and 13 total pressures. But those numbers were way down from the year prior.

He had a whopping 28 pressures the year before, along with 7.5 sacks and 11 QB hits. I wonder if Wise is a Jerod Mayo guy or if he was a Bill Belichick guy. Maybe it's both. If he was more of a Belichick guy then I think we could see the Patriots take those nearly $5 million savings along with the draft compensation and run with it.
