Another Fight Breaks Out at Patriots Training Camp
By Jovan Alford
With training camp entering its second week around the league, the fights will begin to spark as players get tired of hitting each other and want to hit someone else on a different team.
At New England Patriots’ training camp, first-year head coach Jerod Mayo has already seen one fight involving young linebacker Josh Uche earlier this week. Uche was reportedly thrown out of practice after fighting offensive lineman Chukwuma Okafor.
Unfortunately, the Patriots had another fight break out at practice on Thursday, which involved a player on offense and defense.
According to Zach Cox of NESN, a mini-scuffle broke out during goal-line 11-on-11s between veteran tight end Hunter Henry and linebacker Anfernee Jennings. Cox adds that coaches had to break up the squabble. But thankfully, there were no ejections.
While you never want to see teammates fight, it's almost expected when you compete against each other during the summer heat. That said, it’s also good to see Mayo didn’t have to throw anyone out of practice, which means the team learned its lesson from earlier this week.
The Patriots only have a week of training camp practices left before playing their first preseason against the Carolina Panthers. At that point, I’m sure they will be happy to go against a different team and try to showcase their skills.
The first preseason contest will be a huge test for Mayo, who has said and done all the right things this offseason and in training camp to establish a new mantra in New England.
