Young Patriot Kicked Out of Practice for Starting Fight
It's been a chaotic offseason for the New England Patriots and their fanbase. They had a lot of overturn this offseason, which started with Jerod Mayo becoming the head coach and Eliot Wolf taking over as the GM.
The Pats have a new foundation of players as well, that includes Drake Maye, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, and more.
Now the focus is all on training camp as teams look to prepare for the 2024 season. As practices start getting more intense, a young Patriot defender was kicked out of practice on July 29.
Patriots News: Josh Uche Was Kicked Out of Practice for Fighting
Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, EDGE Josh Uche was thrown out of practice after getting into a fight with right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor.
During the Bill Belichick-era, once a punch was thrown, that player was thrown out of practice and it looks like Mayo kept this rule.
As Mayo looks to put his imprint on the team, this is something that will catch the attention of players. We all know tempers can get high when these players are practicing in the hot summer sun but they must keep their emotions intact.
Fighting and potentially injuring a teammate isn't the right choice. Just ask the New York Jets. Back in 2015, IK Enemkpali punched then-starting quarterback Geno Smith in the face, fracturing his jaw in two places.
That forced him to undergo surgery and he never touched the field that season for New York.
A situation like that shows that it's never worth fighting a teammate, anywhere in the facility.
Hopefully, Uche learns his lesson and doesn't let it happen again. The 25-year-old re-signed with New England on a one-year, $3 million deal as he looks to ball out this season to earn a massive payday next offseason.
