The New England Patriots head into 2024 with tampered expectations. They have Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf calling the shots as they look to build the organization in the image they see fit.

Mike Onwenu, Kyle Dugger, and Kendrick Bourne will all be back with the Pats in 2024 and play in big role in building that new culture in Foxborough.

New England is currently sitting on $53.4 million in cap space and has more than enough money to make more meaningful additions.

The Pats could strengthen their secondary and Stephon Gilmore may be a name to watch. In an article by Karen Guregian, she said, "A source told MassLive the veteran corner was open to all options, including another go-round with the Patriots"

Patriots Rumors: Stephon Gilmore Open to Returning to New England

Gilmore played in New England from 2017-2020 and was one of the best at the position during his tenure. During that stretch, he was a two-time First-Team All-Pro and won the AP Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2019.

Although he isn't that same player, Gilmore is still an effective defender on the backend. Last season with the Dallas Cowboys, the former South Carolina standout had 68 total tackles, 13 pass deflections, and two interceptions in 17 games. He also finished with a 74.4 PFF grade.

Adding Gilmore to the mix would benefit the morale of the team and he could be a mentor to Christian Gonzalez. Picking the brain of an All-Pro cornerback would be massive for Gonzalez and anyone on that defensive unit.

New England needs to ace this offseason to improve their odds for the 2024 season. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Patriots are +1700 underdogs to win the AFC East. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
