Former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will shockingly not be on the sidelines this coming season after not landing any head coaching jobs in the offseason.

The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach was reportedly in the running for the Atlanta Falcons’ head coaching vacancy. But the Falcons decided to hire Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.

Even though Belichick didn’t get much interest this time on the coaching carousel, it won’t stop the former Patriots head coach from pursuing potential opportunities next season.

As a matter of fact, FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd said on The Herd Wednesday that the teams in his opinion that are on the Belichick list are the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, and Buffalo Bills.

“The Belichick list from what I’ve heard are three teams: Philadelphia, Dallas, and Buffalo,” he said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” “I’ve heard two things about Belichick, and I trust my sources on this."

“He would rather stay out east. He’s got his place in Nantucket. He golfs down in Jupiter, Florida. Bill doesn’t have any interest in moving everybody out west,” Cowherd continued. “The second thing, he would like the quarterback situation to be stable. The instability post-Brady was his downfall.”

It doesn’t come as a surprise to see that the Eagles and Cowboys are on “The Belichick List,” given that both teams fell short of expectations last season and have two head coaches who could be on their way out depending on how things play out this season.

Mike McCarthy didn’t receive an extension this offseason, making him a lame-duck head coach, and Jerry Jones would love to take a chance on Belichick if McCarthy can’t get Dallas to the NFC title game.

However, the quarterback situation in Dallas is unclear, as starter Dak Prescott hasn’t received a contract extension this offseason.

As for the Eagles, Nick Sirianni is coming off a disappointing 2023 campaign as Philly went from Super Bowl contenders to being eliminated in Super Wild Card weekend. The Eagles cleaned house on both sides of the ball, bringing in two veteran coordinators –  Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio to hopefully turn things around.

But if Sirianni can’t figure it out with two established coordinators and the team starts slow, the Eagles could be an appealing job for a coach like Belichick. Also, the Eagles have a franchise QB in Jalen Hurts, who isn’t going anywhere after signing a massive five-year deal last offseason.

Finally, the Bills stand out on this list as it could be a nice revenge spot for Belichick to get back at the Patriots twice a season. And he would have a good quarterback in Josh Allen to lean on, which would him in the conversation to win the AFC East.

It’s clear that Belichick still wants to coach despite doing media work this offseason. And if one of those jobs or teams were to struggle this season, do not be surprised to hear Belichick’s name thrown around.
