The Boston Celtics have been atop the NBA world since June when they hoisted their 18th NBA Championship. They were the best team throughout the entire 2023-24 season and that translated into a title.

They know they will get everyone's best punch next season but that doesn't faze them. Boston has the deepest roster in the NBA and they continued to supplement the team as they added a former first-rounder on Wednesday evening.

Celtics News: Boston Signs Lonnie Walker IV

Per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with guard Lonnie Walker IV.

Walker IV was a first-round pick in the 2018 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. Across his six-year career, the Miami product has played for the Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Brooklyn Nets.

The 25-year-old is an explosive playmaker who can get to the rack with no problem. Walker IV can create his own shot and has the ability to score from all three levels on the court. Last season with the Nets, he averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds, and shot 38.4% from beyond the arc.

Having another ball handler and shot creator off the bench gives the Celtics another weapon at their disposal. He will need to have a solid training camp to solidify his spot on the team but getting signed is the first step.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the driving forces for this team but you can never have enough role players. Last season showcased it and Boston wants to apply that to the 2024-25 season as well.
