Christian Gonzalez Asks Patriots to Make Big Uniform Change
By Ryan Bunton
With the New England Patriots eligible to break out a new uniform set in 2025, one proposal has caught the eye of Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez. The proposed jerseys are an iteration of the "royal Patriots" jerseys that the team wore from 1993 to 1999.
Another user posted what the jerseys might look like in action, presenting former NFL Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore in the hypothetical threads.
The team began wearing the current iteration of their uniforms in 2020 after they first took the field in the navy-on-navy look as a color rush alternate in 2016. New England also re-introduced the fan-favorite Pat Patriot throwback in 2023, breaking those out for two games - in Week 2 and Week 13.
Gonzalez himself has already made a uniform change this offseason, switching from the no. 6 jersey that he wore during his rookie season. The defensive back wore zero during his college days at Oregon and he will be the first-ever Patriot to don the number.
Another slight change as a new era emerges under coach Jerod Mayo, New England will have the captain patches on their jerseys in 2024. A new alternate logo is seen at the team facility and on team social media channels has also been making the rounds. With the impending possibility that the Patriots could make some changes, other proposals have flooded Patriots' social media circles. Check some of them out below:
The Patriots fanbase hasn't been completely enamored with the current version of New England's uniforms (poor on-field performance doesn't aid that perception either), but hopefully fan input is taken into account if or when the new look is unveiled.
