Christian Gonzalez Shares Major Injury Update on Instagram

It's been over two weeks since New England Patriots fans last saw Christian Gonzalez on a football field. That was during Week 4's brutal 38-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, when the cornerback suffered a torn labrum from a dislocated shoulder in just his fourth career game.

Gonzalez was placed on the injured reserve six days later and will likely miss the rest of the season -- a devastating blow to the promising rookie as well as the Patriots' defense. New England fans haven't heard much about him since then, but on Tuesday night Gonzalez shared an encouraging update on his injury via Instagram.

Gonzalez posted a picture of the living room in his home with a simple caption: "Surgery went good! Thank you for all the prayers."

This is great news from the Patriots' 2023 first-round draft pick, who underwent surgery on his torn labrum earlier this week. Now that he's undergone successful surgery, he can start rehabbing and working to get back on the field as soon as possible.

Whether that happens in 2023 or 2024 is still to be determined. New England has spiraled without Gonzalez, losing both of its games without him and falling to 1-5. The Patriots will likely lose again to the Buffalo Bills in Week 7, and with the trade deadline coming up they should think about waving the white flag and preparing for 2024.
