One of the biggest talking points following the New England Patriots' disappointing Week 2 loss was the play of the offensive line.

While their excellence in run blocking helped New England emerge victorious in its opener, this unit struggled to make Jacoby Brissett's job easier versus the Seattle Seahawks, and the passing game inefficiency ended up costing the Pats a 2-0 start.

While Brissett has every right to be upset with the line not buying him time in the pocket, the veteran leader attempted to take the heat off of his teammates prior to New England's Week 3 matchup.

Brissett told reporters "I can take it" when asked if he's worried about the number of times he's been roughed already in 2024. The quarterback added, "I'm a grown man. I can take a couple of hits."

This is clearly Brissett trying to cover for his O-line, which is what a good leader should do in a public setting. The Patriots' linemen have already gotten an earful from the coaching staff as well, so there's no point in Brissett bagging on.

Hopefully this response will get back to the locker room and motivate Brissett's protectors even more to step things up moving forward.

That being said, this situation might get worse before it improves. The entire starting offensive line is on the Week 3 injury report right now, which opens the door for at least one of them not to suit up.

And even if a majority of these guys do play, they're clearly banged up, so they may not be at peak performance -- especially on a short week due to Thursday Night Football.
