Jacoby Brissett Will Not Love Latest Patriots Injury Update
By Cem Yolbulan
The New England Patriots are preparing for a tough Week 4 matchup on the road against the 49ers. Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Jets last week, the Patriots are desperately trying to get back on track but they have an uphill battle awaiting them.
One of the biggest reasons for early-season struggles, especially on the offensive end, has been the status of the offensive line. The latest injury report suggests it's unlikely to change against San Francisco.
Patriots insider Mike Reiss reported that the team has ruled out offensive linemen Vederian Lowe and Michael Jordan for the game because of injuries. In addition, Caedan Wallace and Sidy Sow are questionable to play, further depleting the offensive line rotation.
Patriots News: Offensive Line Still Dealing With Injuries
Jacoby Brissett has already been taking too many hits. He has no time in the pocket with his linemen constantly allowing pressure. This was painfully obvious against the Jets in Week 3. It sounds like this might be the case again on Sunday, also raising the question of whether it will ever make sense to risk Drake Maye behind this offensive line this season.
The Patriots are in line to start their fourth different left tackle in four games. Demontrey Jacobs is the frontrunner there but if Wallace is available, he is also an option. Michael Leverett might get the starting nod at left guard if Sow is still not ready to make his season debut.
Understandably, the Patriots are 10.5-point underdogs against the Niners on FanDuel Sportsbook. They would have to overcome the +440 moneyline odds to escape with the upset win.
