The New England Patriots made it their mission to find ways to add more talent to the offense. In 2023, the Pats struggled on multiple fronts to move the ball consistently.

They were 30th in total offense (276.2), 28th in passing offense (180.5), and last in scoring offense (13.9).

Juju Smith-Schuster came over to New England last offseason on a three-year deal that has a base value of $25.5 million with $16 million guaranteed.

Despite the big payday, he failed to make an impact. He only recorded 29 catches for 260 yards, and one touchdown in 11 games.

Now heading into his second season with New England, the former USC product continues to get pushed down the pecking order.

Patriots News: Juju Smith-Schuster Wasn’t Running With 2 Minute Offense in Friday’s Practice

During Friday''s practice, Ja'Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, Kayshon Boutte, and Pop Douglas were the receivers who were running with the two-minute offense.

Smith-Schuster has failed to impress the coaching staff enough as he continues to struggle on the practice field.

It even carried over into Saturday's practice, where he was seen dropping a downfield pass from rookie quarterback Joe Milton.

The Patriots made it clear they didn't have faith in Smith-Schuster. They added Polk and Baker in this year's draft. Both of these guys have impressed the staff, as Baker just a step forward on Friday.

Meanwhile, both Boutte and Douglas have balled out this spring and summer.

Even though the 27-year-old has a $12 million dead cap hit this season, it appears more and more likely that he'll be released by the end of summer due to his lackluster play.
