The New England Patriots will induct Tom Brady into the team's Hall of Fame tonight in a ceremony at Gillette Stadium, and the reports are that the festivities will include an appearance from a very popular and familiar celebrity.

According to Rich Shertenlieb, host of The Rich Shertenlieb Show on WZLX, a source close to the Patriots has revealed that a rumored surprise musical act will in fact be rapper Jay-Z.

Jay-Z, who was born Shawn Corey Carter, is no stranger to Gillette Stadium. He is close friends with Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and has been spotted in the owner's box during Patriots games.

Kraft and Jay-Z have worked together on The Reform Alliance, an organization focused on reforming the criminal justice system in the United States. That group was started in response to the re-imprisonment of Meek Mill, another friend of Kraft's.

In 2019, Mill, Jay-Z and Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin all pitched in to surprise Kraft with a new Bentley convertible for his 80th birthday.

Kraft has a long history of fraternizing with stars in the music industry. His close relationship with Bon Jovi is well documented, a friendship shared by former Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who is also expected to be in attendance to honor Brady.

Jay-Z's appearance might not be just for Kraft's own personal edification. The artist's "Public Service Announcement" was the soundtrack to New England's pregame entrance during Brady's tenure at Gillette. According to a 2018 article by Mike Reiss of ESPN, Brady listed Jay-Z at the top of his list of go-to music. He also included Coldplay, U2, Pearl Jam and Kendrick Lamar.
