It's a rebuilding year for the New England Patriots, at least offensively. The exciting news is that the Patriots aren't rebuilding with scraps -- they've got a legitimate franchise quarterback candidate in third overall pick Drake Maye, an ultra-talented rookie out of North Carolina. But the Patriots are undoubtedly a work in progress on that side of the ball.

Defensively, this team might be able to tread water a lot longer than people really expect this season. The Patriots have a lot of continuity on that side of the ball and a unit that was much better last season than the team's record would indicate. Now that OTAs and minicamp are over, who can we expect to make up this Patriots roster in 2024?

New head coach Jerod Mayo is starting a new era in New England, and he's got some big decisions looming ahead.

Predicting the Patriots 53-Man Roster Ahead of 2024 Training Camp

Quarterback - 3 (3/53)

  • Jacoby Brissett
  • Drake Maye
  • Joe Milton

It feels like Bailey Zappe is getting a bit of a raw deal here. The writing is on the wall and the Patriots are clearly moving on from him, but there’s no telling where he’ll end up. It would be ideal for Zappe if the Patriots would ship him off to his next destination as quickly as possible so he could learn a new offense and have a real shot at being someone’s QB2 in 2024. But regardless of the timing, some team will send the Patriots something of value for Zappe this year at some point.

We just have to wait to find out. Drake Maye is the QB1 of the future but Jacoby Brissett might be the QB1 of the present. We’ll see how long it takes Maye to get up to speed. Joe Milton was drafted on Day 3 and has loads of talent, maybe even the potential of contributing as a weapon offensively at some point.
