Offensive Line - 9 (28/53)

  • Chukwuma Okorafor
  • Cole Strange
  • David Andrews
  • Sidy Sow
  • Mike Onwenu
  • Caedan Wallace
  • Layden Robinson
  • Jake Andrews
  • Calvin Anderson

If young players can develop quickly, the offensive line for the Patriots could turn from one of the major question marks of the roster to one of the major strengths. As of right now, however, there are big questions.

Starting with the left tackle position.

As of OTAs and minicamp, it sounds like former Steelers draft pick Chukwuma Okorafor is slated to be the team’s starter at the left tackle position. That’s not great news all things considered. The Patriots re-signed stud tackle Mike Onwenu this offseason but he’s going to stay over on the right side. There’s potential we could see Calvin Anderson in the mix, though his recent injury history would indicate that’s unlikely.

Third-round pick Caedan Wallace could end up being a factor there eventually, but it doesn’t appear anything is happening overnight. Again, there are young players to like across the board here. One thing that will potentially impact the 53-man roster here is whether Cole Strange opens the year on IR or not. He should be back at some point this season.

Defensive Line - 6 (34/53)

  • Christian Barmore
  • Davon Godchaux
  • Armon Watts
  • Deatrich Wise
  • Daniel Ekuale
  • Jeremiah Pharms

What’s great about the Patriots’ defensive line group is that this coaching staff knows what it’s getting out of just about every guy. There is a high floor for this group as a result. Armon Watts is the newcomer, replacing Lawrence Guy in the rotation. When you look at the Patriots’ defensive line, the top four should be set and there are a couple of solid depth pieces in Daniel Ekuale and Jeremiah Pharms, though the Pats could stand to upgrade there.
