It isn't a secret that the New England Patriots receiver room has been lacking. However, the Pats are now being linked to a star WR ahead of the trade deadline.

The New England Patriots' offense has been lacking to begin the 2024 NFL season and one of the biggest issues is the wide receiver room. It's four games into the new campaign and the Patriots still don't have a wideout with 100 receiving yards, leaving the team in the position to add some help as the Nov. 5 trade deadline approaches.

The Patriots certainly have the cap space and draft capital to make some noise in the coming weeks. Now, the franchise has been linked to one superstar receiver whose name has dominated the rumor mill lately.

Patriots Linked to Davante Adams in Trade Rumors

NFL Trade Rumors' Logan Ulrich has listed the Patriots as a potential trade destination for Las Vegas Raiders WR Davante Adams. The six-time Pro Bowl playmaker allegedly requested a trade from the Raiders earlier this week, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

There's no question that Adams would easily become the Patriots' best receiver if he made his way to New England. The game-changing pass-catcher has more receiving yards this season (209) than Demario Douglas, Ja'Lynn Polk, K.J. Osborn, and Kayshon Boutte combined (206).

Adams might not be too keen on joining a rebuilding team like the Patriots, however, money talks. One reason why the Raiders are trying to trade Adams is because his cap hit jumps up to $44.1 million in 2025 and 2026. Spotrac, meanwhile, projects that the Patriots will have over $138.5 million in cap space in March and $271 million to play with in 2026.

As mentioned before, New England also has enough draft capital to help Las Vegas. The Patriots currently hold a combined 24 picks across the next three NFL drafts, including 10 for next year alone. The Raiders are reportedly looking for at least a second-round draft pick, which is a cost that the Pats shouldn't hesitate to pay.

If the Patriots want to set up quarterback Drake Maye for life, acquiring Adams (or at least trying to) is a no-brainer. Since making his NFL debut in 2014, the former Fresno State WR has gone to rack up 10,990 receiving yards and 96 touchdowns on 890 catches while being named to three All-Pro first teams and six Pro Bowls.

With a month to go before the deadline, we'll see if Adams becomes any closer to moving to New England. In the meantime, the Patriots are currently 1.5-point home favorites in their Week 5 matchup against the rival Miami Dolphins, per FanDuel Sportsbook.
