The New England Patriots are preparing for their Week 2 showdown against the Seattle Seahawks. In Week 1, the Patriots came out with an upset 16-10 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

For a team that's rebuilding, this was the perfect way to start the 2024 season. Meanwhile, around the division, the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins squared off on Thursday Night Football to start Week 2.

In the contest, the Bills defeated the Dolphins 31-10 but the biggest loss for Miami was quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

In the third quarter, Tagovailoa was scrambling and dove head first where he was hit by safety Damar Hamlin. He stayed on the ground and eventually exited the game with a concussion. With his future now in question, the Dolphins decided to roll with a quarterback on the roster. And that isn't a wise decision.

NFL News: Dolphins Will Move Forward With Skylar Thompson

When speaking to reporters on Friday morning, Miami head coach Mike McDaniel revealed that the team will be moving forward with quarterback Skylar Thompson. He added that they will sign someone as depth but Thompson will be the starter.

That is a move that won't age well for Miami but is terrific news for New England.

Thompson was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 fifth-round pick. Even though the Kansas State product made the 53-man roster, he isn't someone who should be trusted to start a stretch of games.

In eight career games, including two starts, Thompson completed 57% of his passes for 614 yards with one passing touchdown and three interceptions.

He doesn't seem to be comfortable under center to read coverages and get the ball into the hands of his playmakers consistently.

Miami's next three opponents are the Seattle Seahawks, Tennessee Titans, and the Patriots. However long Thompson is out there bodes well for New England and will be bad for the Dolphins.

If they were smart, the Dolphins would add another starting-caliber quarterback but it appears that they'll be rolling with Thompson.

And that's a bad choice, to say the least.
