Patriots Re-Sign Promising Linebacker on Steal of a Contract
The New England Patriots have an abundance of funds to make quality additions in the free-agent market but also gives them flexibility to retain their own players. That's exactly what happened on Mar. 12.
Per Albert Breer, New England is resigning edge Josh Uche to a one-year, $3 million deal, with incentives that can go up to $8 million.
Patriots News: Josh Uche Is Returning to New England in 2024
Uche has been with the Patriots since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Uche is known for being an athletic defender coming off the edge and has the bend to get around blockers.
In his four-year career, the Michigan product has racked up 63 total tackles and 18.5 sacks with 11.5 coming in the 2022 campaign.
He struggled last season in the absence of Matt Judon but he looks to have a bounce-back campaign in 2024. When they were both on the field in 2022, Judon and Uche combined to secure 27 total sacks.
With Jerod Mayo now in charge, he looked to retain some players who were already in New England. That helps build the culture and Uche is someone that was valued.
They need to ace this offseason to improve their odds for the 2024 campaign. According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Patriots are +2000 underdogs to win the AFC East. If you want to take lock-in of these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and claim your sign-up bonus.
