Patriots Starter Inching Closer to Making His Season Debut on Sunday vs. 49ers
The New England Patriots have dropped two games in a row and are now focused on taking down the San Francisco 49ers.
The Pats will have to travel to California for this matchup but could be getting a starter back for this game.
Patriots News: Sidy Sow Could Make Season Debut in Week 4
Head coach Jerod Mayo spoke with reporters on Friday and he revealed that guard Sidy Sow's ankle has responded well in practice and the arrow is pointing up for his return.
Mayo added, "Hopefully look forward to seeing him play on Sunday."
That Patriots offensive line has been undergoing a lot of shuffling with multiple guys like Vederian Lowe and Caedan Wallace listed as questionable for Week 4.
New England has also allowed the eighth-most sacks (11) through three weeks, with seven of those coming against the New York Jets in Week 3.
Getting some solid protection upfront can go a long way. Especially for a passing attack that has struggled to get it going. After three games, New England is averaging an NFL-worst 102 passing yards per game.
That kind of production can't continue but it starts up front with keeping your quarterback upright. Last season, Sow logged 774 snaps for New England, allowing 18 pressures and five sacks. They'll certainly look for some better production than that. Nonetheless, Sow is better than who they are trotting out now.
It's going to an uphill climb for New England in Week 4, entering the contest as 10.5-point underdogs according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
