Pats Continue Internal Spending Spree With Latest Signing
The New England Patriots are in the midst of their summer break as they have training camp kicking off later this month.
It's been a chaotic last couple of months as the Pats have transitioned over to Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf to calling the shots. The Pats have made a flurry of acquisitions through free agency and the 2024 NFL Draft.
Even though players aren't in the building, that doesn't stop New England from making moves. Their latest move showcases their faith in members of the organization.
Pats News: Jahlani Tavai Has Been Extended
According to ESPN's Mike Reiss, the New England Patriots and linebacker Jahlani Tavai have agreed to terms on a three-year deal for $15 million that can go up to $21 million.
Tavai came over to the Pats in 2021 and has been an impactful force for the defense. He is aggressive on the field and is constantly pursuing the ball carrier.
He's started 28 games over the last two seasons but broke out for New England in 2023. Tavai tallied 110 total tackles with five tackles for loss and four QB hits.
The 27-year-old is now locked in for the next couple of years and has a chance to continue his positive trajectory.
New England has retained a bunch of key players on the roster. That list includes Rhamondre Stevenson, Christian Barmore, Hunter Henry, Kyle Dugger, David Andrews, and Michael Onwenu.
Now they can add Tavai to the list as they head into an exciting 2024 season. There are going to be a lot of new moving parts for New England at the top but they wanted to make sure they kept some key guys.
