Perfect Veteran Pitcher Just Became Available for Red Sox Trade
With a month of the regular season under wraps, the Boston Red Sox are playing some good baseball. If you told the fanbase their club would be three games above .500 heading into May, they may not have believed you.
Boston had pitcher Lucas Giolito (elbow) and SS Trevor Story (shoulder) ruled out for the year early on in the season but they have found a way to weather the storm.
Despite being down their ace, the Red Sox are leading the MLB in team ERA (2.61). This is a great start for Boston but teams are always looking for more pitching. Luckily for them, the perfect veteran option is expected to be on the trade market.
Red Sox Rumors: Chicago White Sox Are Expected to Have A Fire Sale at the Trade Deadline
The Chicago White Sox have been the worst team in the American League through the first month of the season, logging an 8-26 record.
With the season already looking lost, they are expected to have a bunch of players on the trade block. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported that the White Sox are likely to trade multiple starters including starting pitcher Chris Flexen.
Flexen would be the perfect mid-season acquisition for the Red Sox. The 29-year-old has a big frame at 6'3, standing on the mound. He has good movement on his fastball while throwing in a curveball or changeup to keep hitters off balance.
In his career, Flexen has gone 28-37 with a 4.94 ERA and 360 K's.
Adding another quality arm to the starting rotation is something that could certainly help Boston as the season progresses.
