Unexpected Pats Playmaker 'Without Question' the Best Receiver in Camp So Far
The New England Patriots are taking part in a grueling training camp in the hot sun over in Massachusetts.
Things may be a bit tough for this squad in 2024 as they have a lot of different moving parts. Regardless, they are ready to compete and are honing in on their craft in camp.
This is the time when players start to separate themselves from the pack and a playmaker has emerged as the Patriots' best pass catcher in camp throughout the first week.
Pats News: Ja'Lynn Polk Has Been Best Receiver for New England
Per Mike Kadlick of CLNS Media, rookie receiver Ja'Lynn Polk has been 'without question' the best receiver through the first six training camp practices.
This was a common thread throughout the spring, as Polk was consistently a reliable target. With Kendrick Bourne still not practicing, Polk has seen more first-team reps and taken full advantage.
There is no clear No. 1 WR in that room, so there are plenty of targets up for grabs. The team certainly has a lot of faith in Polk, as they selected him with the 37th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
The former Washington product is a crisp route runner with great ball-tracking skills. His hands are like glue and he wins with technique more than speed. That has been on display in camp.
Last season with the Huskies, he reeled in 65 receptions for 1,122 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.
The Pats were 30th in the NFL in passing offense (276.2 yards per game) so they need a spark in 2024. Polk is off to a great start and will have the opportunity to solidify his spot on the depth chart.
As a Patriots fan, this is the news you love to hear from training camp.
