You can smell and see it in the air. Football is back! Training camp is kicking off around the league as teams are starting to prepare for the 2024 season.

The New England Patriots have new leadership running the show in Jerod Mayo and Eliot Wolf. They have done a good job adding a mix of veterans and young players as they build for the future.

They had rookies report to the facility on July 19 and have veterans joining them on July 23.

But before veterans came to the building, the Pats brought five veterans in for workouts, including a veteran tailback on Monday.

Pats News: Five Players Are Brought in for Workouts

Per the transaction wire, New England brought in guards Jack Anderson, Mike Panasiuk, defensive tackle Jaleel Johnson, and running backs Demetric Felton, and Gary Brightwell for workouts.

Felton is the name that sticks out due to his familiarity with the scheme. He played under offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt in Cleveland in 2021-22. In those two seasons, Felton finished with 189 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

As for Anderson, he's played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, and the Indianapolis Colts. Meanwhile, Panasiuk recently suited up for the St. Louis Battlehawks in the UFL.

Johnson was a fourth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He's bounced around the league, notching 149 total tackles with 11 tackles for loss.

Lastly, Brightwell played for the New York Giants for the past three years, logging 164 rushing yards and one score.

There will be positional battles throughout camp and New England has decided to look at some free agents who could fill in a void.

Although they haven't signed anyone just yet, they are still looking at different avenues to improve the club.
