Young Patriots Player Suddenly Out for 2024 Season With Mystery Injury
The New England Patriots have a lot of questions to answer during the 2024 season. Jerod Mayo is stepping into his first year as head coach and has his hands full.
They had to find ways to upgrade this team after going 4-13 last season and were aggressive in different aspects over the last couple of moves in terms of adding talent.
Although that happened, it's still going to be an uphill climb for New England in 2024. Now as they head into another week of training camp, they were just hit with a season-ending injury.
Patriots News: New England Placed Jake Andrews on Injured Reserve
According to Mike Reiss of ESPN, the New England Patriots placed IOL Jake Andrews on injured reserve. The injury has not been revealed but Andrews did not practice this entire year. A corresponding move was New England signing long snapper Tucker Addington, who was last with the team in 2022.
The 24-year-old was selected in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Troy. As a rookie last season, he only started in one game. He saw action in 16 contests and played on special teams primarily. He was thought to be a viable backup on the team in 2024 but unfortunately, that isn't the case.
Training camp is all about battles and competition so Andrews not touching the field eliminated his chances of making the 53-man roster this season.
The Pats can't afford to keep someone on the active roster who's not even getting on the field. Every roster spot is critical.
