The New England Patriots have a big-time game against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football. The Pats are 2-2 on the year and seek to get over .500 in this tilt. While this is the main focus for New England, they could use more juice in the wide receiver room.
Outside of Stefon Diggs, the Patriots' WRs have been underwhelming, and it would behoove them to address that issue by looking outside of the organization. One potential trade target who sticks out is none other than Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers. That could be something New England has a great deal of interest in, as Meyers has a long history of working with Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
New England Should Look into Acquiring Jakobi Meyers
Earlier this offseason, Meyers requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders after the two sides weren't able to negotiate a new deal. The Raiders made it clear they weren't going to trade him, but everyone can be moved for the right price.
While they would need to give up draft capital to poach him from Las Vegas, it would be worth it. Sending over a fifth-round pick could be enough to get a deal done, and New England should run to get that deal across the finish line.
Diggs is the leading receiver for New England with 213 receiving yards on 19 catches. Kayshon Boutte is No. 3 on the team in receiving yards (165) on the season, but 103 of those yards came in Week 1. Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, and DeMario Douglas have combined for 14 catches with 85 receiving yards through four games in the 2025 season.
It's clear as day that they need another WR in the fold, and Meyers would be a great addition. He spent four years playing in McDaniels' system and had found success. In those outings under McDaniels, Meyers had 239 catches for 2,761 receiving yards and 10 total touchdowns.
This season with the Raiders, he has reeled in 21 passes for 258 receiving yards and 12.3 yards per reception. That kind of production would lead the Patriots in receiving yards and give them another legit threat in the passing attack.
They also have over $50 million in cap space for 2025 and 2026, per Overthecap. That's more than enough money to provide Meyers a short-term but lucrative deal that keeps both sides happy. Drake Maye has taken strides in his second season, so adding another playmaker to the fold would only make this a better and more productive offense.
