Make sure to take a listen to last week’s edition of the C&C Podcast where Matt and myself discuss the penalties laid down by the Patriots. You can find the C&C Podcast on Podbean.com, the Podbean App, and on iTunes.

With Mr. Kraft’s comments on Tuesday afternoon regarding the Patriots choosing not to appeal their penalties, some Twitter nut jobs decided to use spew some of the dumbest things ever Tweeted:

I’ll admit when the press conference was over with I was a surprised with Mr. Kraft’s comments, it was a move that I did not see coming. But then I started to think about it more and more, and one thing became apparently clear.

That Mr. Kraft and Roger Goodell had struck some sort of deal that would see the Patriots own up to the fines and draft picks, in exchange for a reduction in suspension for Tom Brady.

It was reported late Monday into Tuesday morning that the two sides were speaking about a common resolution to end the upcoming appeals. The rumors of a possible resolution, along with Mr. Kraft’s press conference today indicates that the two sides have reached an under the table agreement that will likely result in the Super Bowl MVP getting his suspension reduced.

How many games will Tom Brady serve then?

Well that’s a question that is still not known, however I believe that Mr. Kraft and Goodell have a general understanding that the suspension will be reduced. My take is that the suspension will be VOIDED all together, there is just no way that Mr. Kraft would come out today and give that press conference without the knowledge that Brady’s suspension would be lifted.

Does anyone remember Mr. Kraft’s remarks the week prior to the Super Bowl where he demanded an apology from Roger Goodell once the Wells Report was complete? And once the Wells Report came out, the Patriots published a powerful response on their website outlining every accusation and presenting their side of the arguments. So what would cause Mr. Kraft to then do a complete 180 degree turn in stance?

More probable than not, a reduction in Tom Brady’s suspension.

More from Chowder and Champions

So for all you Twitter eggheads who have complained that Mr. Kraft should sell the Patriots because of his remarks today, I need you to take a look at the bigger picture here. Mr. Kraft has been on the offensive since Day 1 of DeflateGate, he clearly has stood by not only his employees testimonies but the testimony of Tom Brady as well.

So I need you to think for a second, why would Mr. Kraft say these remarks?

Does he feel guilty that he’s been lying the entire time? Nope.

Did Roger Goodell present more incriminating evidence to Mr. Kraft? Probably Not.

Did Roger Goodell and Mr. Kraft, who were at a dinner Saturday night, come to some sort of agreement regarding the end of DeflateGate? More probable than not.
