NFL Power Rankings: New England Patriots Rise Back to Top

Following an impressive 30-20 victory over a strong New York Jets team, the New England Patriots are back where they belong, atop the NFL Power Rankings. Last week, I had to voice my displeasure a bit, as they had the Patriots falling to the second spot in the rankings, but now all is right with the world.

The updated NFL Power Rankings are out from the staff over at the main FanSided site, with the Patriots coming in at the top spot. Here is what the FanSided writers had to say about the Patriots this week:

"The New England Patriots remained undefeated and continued to look dominant, even against a tough New York Jets defense. Tom Brady was his usual self, throwing for 355 yards and two touchdowns. Those two touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter and gave the Patriots the lead, and then extended it to give them some wiggle room. Brady even leaped over a goal line pile to score a touchdown in the second quarter. Tight end Rob Gronkowski had another break out game as well, catching 11 passes for 108 yards and the game-sealing touchdown. No one has figured out how to stop the Patriots yet and they might not be close."

There are still five teams in the NFL remaining, and the five make up the top team in these NFL Power Rankings. The Patriots take the top spot, followed by the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. You could make an argument for any of the undefeated teams, but let’s be honest, the Patriots are currently the best team in the NFL.

Despite dealing with multiple injuries across the board, Bill Belichick and Tom Brady has this team rolling. After knocking off the Jets, the schedule is really starting to lighten-up for the Patriots. They are going to be heavy favorites in a majority of their remaining games, with Denver on the road late in November and the Jets on the road in Week 16 being the lone exceptions.

Obviously, there is a long way to go, but the Patriots may be heading towards another undefeated regular season. This team definitely has the horses to pull it off, and the schedule now seems to be in their favor.

For now, we will simply look ahead to the Week 8 Thursday Night Football match-up against the Miami Dolphins, and be happy for this team being rightfully back on top.
