Rob Gronkowski Injury: Likely Miss Multiple Weeks
While the Rob Gronkowski injury news has mostly been positive, he is likely to miss multiple weeks.
When New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski went down on the field in pain on Sunday night, it looked as if he would not suit up again anytime soon. He appeared to tear major ligaments in his right knee, the same knee that had to be reconstructed just a few years ago.
Luckily, Gronkowski has seemed to avoid major injury, as an MRI revealed nothing more than a bruised knee with a minor strain. Make no mistake, this is literally the best case scenario. Gronkowski’s knee being structurally solid is incredible news, but reports of him not missing any time may have been premature.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Gronkowski will not play this week as the Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles, and is likely to miss multiple games.
All things considered, I will certainly take it. Think back to when the injury happened. Do not fool yourself. You, like me, thought that Gronk had blown out his knee once again, and the Patriots were about the suffer another catastrophic injury. Heck, based on the reaction, Gronkowski thought the exact same thing.

Allowing Gronkowski to recover over the next few weeks is a luxury the 10-1 Patriots have. Sure, they may drop a couple of games and not get home field advantage, but aside from a healthy Tom Brady, there is nothing more important to this team than having Gronkowski healthy and ready to go in the playoffs.
The Patriots need Gronkowski, and they know it. If holding him out for a few weeks allows him to get ready for the stretch run, then so be it. Plus, with the Patriots ending the regular season with the Eagles, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins, who’s to say that can’t run the table?

Are you really betting against Bill Belichick and Tom Brady in any of those games? I don’t care who Brady is throwing to, they will be relatively heavy favorites in all of them, and for good reason.
It is time to hold back. Get Gronk healthy for the post season at all costs.
