New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will get the start Sunday against the Buffalo Bills.

Rex Ryan and the Buffalo Bills will have to prepare to defend Jimmy Garoppolo. According to WEEI’s Kirk Minihane, the New England Patriots quarterback will be ready to go Sunday against the AFC East rivals.

With Tom Brady just a week away from making his return to the field, the news is good for the Patriots.  Garoppolo, who suffered a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder in Week 2 against the Miami Dolphins, appears to be healthy enough to continue where he left off before the injury.

Garoppolo was limited all week in practice, but looked as though he was throwing the ball well.  Earlier in the week, the product of Eastern Illinois was coy about his availability for Sunday’s game and took a “day-by-day” approach when addressing his injury.

“It’s coming along” Garoppolo said Wednesday.  “Day-by-day right now trying to get the best of my ability on Sunday.  Just trying to get better every day, that’s all you can ask for with this. We’re just taking it day-by-day, really.”

Jacoby Brissett still needs to be ready

More from New England Patriots

Apparently the Patriots coaching staff feel Garoppolo has progressed enough to give it a shot against the Bills defense.  However, backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett, should also be ready to go.

The rookie quarterback, who injured his thumb in the Week 3 victory against the Houston Texans, is also listed as questionable.  Both quarterbacks will see their opportunity to see valuable playing time during the regular season decrease when Brady returns to action.

In his two games started this season, Jimmy Garoppolo has a quarterback rating of 119.0.  He has thrown for 496 yards with 4 touchdowns and no interceptions.  Most importantly, he has shown great command of the offense.  Hopefully that continues on Sunday as the Patriots hope to improve their record to 4-0.
