New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount returned to Pittsburgh and helped silence his former team on Sunday.

He wasn’t the flashiest running back on the field, but New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount was the more impactful one Sunday.  Blount rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns to help his team defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers 27-16 at Heinz Field.

The bruising running back entered the week silent about his return to Pittsburgh.  Instead, he did his talking with his legs by steamrolling over Steelers defenders when it really mattered.  In fact, he was monumental in both touchdowns in the second half of the game.

With the team only up 14-13, Blount had two runs of 11 and 25 yards to help set up the 36-yard touchdown pass to Rob Gronkowski.  His ability to open up the running game and stabilize the offense was one of the keys to the game.  With those kind of rushing efforts, the Patriots’ offense will be tough to stop.

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was certainly appreciative of the effort.  Following the game, he praised Blount’s quickness and ability to squeeze out yards when nothing is there.

"“He’s just so deceptive with his quickness. He’s a big back [6-foot-0, 250 pounds] but he’s got great agility,” Brady said. “He makes yards after contact, gets guys in space, and does a great job kind of attacking the creases there. He had a great day.”"

Stephen Gostkowski:   Another week and another missed kick by New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski.  He missed a third-quarter extra point that kept the Steelers within a touchdown.  The missed kick didn’t come back to haunt the Patriots like it did in the AFC Championship game, but it does heighten concerns as to the reliability of Gostkowski.  He almost missed an extra point last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Unsung hero:  Patriots safety Patrick Chung had a whale of a game against the Steelers.  The eight-year safety finished with a team-high 10 tackles.  He was particularly tough against the run and also defended two passes.  One of which was a nice pass breakup in the end zone in the fourth quarter.
