Patriots Gridiron News: Danny Amendola Nearing Postseason Return
New England Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola is making progress and showing signs that he could be ready for the postseason.
As if Tom Brady doesn’t have enough weapons on offense, the New England Patriots could see another of their veteran receivers return to the field just in time for the post season.
WEEI reported Monday that Danny Amendola was spotted inside the locker room early last week. This was a good sign considering that he was seen without a walking boot on a sprained ankle he suffered in the Dec. 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams.

Immediately after he suffered the injury, he was seen wearing the walking boot. The initial prognosis was that Amendola would be ready in time for the playoffs. He appears to be trending towards that possibility, which is good news for the Patriots.
"“We’ll see how it is going with him. He’s working hard,” Bill Belichick said Sunday via WEEI. “Nobody works harder than Danny. We’ll see next week and maybe take a look at that with where we’re at.”"
With the signing and emergence of Michael Floyd, the Patriots don’t need to rush Amendola back although the depth would be essential for the playoffs. The team would have five wide receivers, including Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell besides Amendola and Floyd.
New England’s first playoff game is set for January 14 against the Dolphins, Raiders or Texans. Danny Amendola should be ready to go by then.
Rookie haircuts: A few New England Patriots rookies are sporting some new haircuts heading into the playoffs.
Offensive lineman Joe Thuney is amongst those rookies. He was spotted in the team’s locker room on Monday with a reverse Mohawk. Thuney embraced the new hairdo, saying it was time to have his hair cut.
"“My hair was getting long so I just wanted to change it up a little bit,” Thuney told reporters."
Others receiving some interesting new hairdo’s were guard Ted Karras and quarterback Jacoby Brissett who Patrick Chung said “looked like George Jefferson.”
