New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he would have no problem taking the Vince Lombardi Trophy from the NFL commissioner.

The NFL melodrama between Tom Brady and Roger Goodell may possibly reach its climax Sunday night if the New England Patriots can defeat the Atlanta Falcons.  While both sides are downplaying how awkward it would be for the NFL commissioner to hand the Vince Lonbardi Trophy over to the Patriots, the media and fans will sure to be focused in on the exchange.

In an interview with ESPN Sunday, Brady talked about his offense, facing the Falcons’ defense and of course possibly sharing the podium with Goodell following the whole Deflategate saga and his four-game suspension handed down by the league.  When asked about what many believe will be an awkward situation, Brady remained focus on his objective, saying receiving the trophy would mean his team won.

"“Hopefully we’re in that position,” Brady said in the interview via WEEI.  “It’s going to take a big effort.”"

Brady went on to complement the Dan Quinn and the Falcons’ defense, knowing he will have to have another big game to win his fifth Super Bowl championship.

Tom Brady Sr. goes in on Goodell:  With a father like Tom Brady Sr., there is no wonder why the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback is keeping his own emotions in check.  In an interview with TV station KRON on Friday, Brady Sr. ripped the NFL commissioner, calling Goodell a liar amongst other things.

"“When it happens to your son, it’s a whole different context,” Tom Brady Sr. said in the interview. “Or your daughter or any one of your kids. And I think any parent kind of understands that. They’d rather take the slings and arrows in the heart than have their kids take it. For what the league did to [Tom] and what Roger Goodell constantly lied about is beyond reprehensible, as far as I’m concerned.“[Goodell] went on a witch hunt, and went in way over his head, and had to lie his way out in numerous ways. And the reality is that Tommy never got suspended for deflating footballs,” He added. “He got suspended because the court said that he could, Roger Goodell could do anything he wanted to do to any player for any reason whatsoever. That’s what happened. The NFL admitted they had no evidence on him.”"

While both Brady and Goodell are talking nice about one another and that potential awkward moment, it is clear that Brady Sr. and the majority of Patriots fans will consider it a bonus if the Vince Lombardi Trophy does go from the hands of Goodell into the hands of the organization and player they feel the league made an example off…unfairly.
