Boston Celtics Guard Avery Bradley Shows His Importance
Two games back from injury, and Avery Bradley is showing why the Boston Celtics need him.
Remember that guy? Avery Bradley, shooting guard out of the University of Texas? Plays for the Boston Celtics? Yeah. He’s pretty good isn’t he? You can admit it because I already have, I totally forgot how good Bradley actually is.
Hey, you can’t blame me. The dude was out for 22 games! But when he played Kyrie the other night on the Cavs last possession, whoa. Welcome back, Avery Bradley.

That defensive stop woke everyone up, and showed just how important Bradley is to this team. His defense will help the Celtics get deep into the playoffs, and his offense helps lessen the load for Isaiah Thomas. The key for Avery is he has to stay healthy. It’s something that’s plagued him his whole career, from shoulders to hamstrings to achilles injuries. Last year against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, Bradley pulled his hamstring and was out.

If Bradley played that series, the Celtics could have won. But you guys know what the silver lining is from this injury of his? A better Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart. Those guys have developed with more minutes, so not only do you have Avery Bradley back. But guess what? You have a deeper bench due to player development. It’s a beautiful thing guys, it really is.
I wrote about it earlier in the season, and I still believe it. This Boston Celtics team can really challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers. I know they had no Bogut, Love or Smith the other night, but I don’t care. Jae Crowder is a monster on LeBron defensively (nothing can stop LeBron, but Crowder bugs him more than anyone else), and Bradley bothers Kyrie just enough. Sub one of those two guys out? There’s Marcus Smart, who is bigger and stronger than Bradley. He can guard LeBron or Kyrie with no issue. Terry Rozier is pretty good defensively as well, oh and Jaylen Brown has shown great poise for a rookie (barring his mistakes the other night, but hey again…he’s a rook).

This team is really coming together at the right time, and Avery Bradley is a huge reason why. It’s going to be a wild finish to the season, but I think everyone is ready for the playoffs.
