New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft divulged some new information about Tom Brady and cornerback Malcolm Butler recently.

According to New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft via Sports Illustrated’s MMQB, the rest of the NFL will be dealing with Tom Brady for quite some time.

Brady may end up playing six or seven more years, which would make him 45 or 46 when he’s all finished.

"“As recently as 2 or 3 days ago, he assured me that he’d be willing to play another 6 or 7 years,” Kraft said."

Tom Brady is currently under contract until 2019 but we know the team would absolutely be willing to work extensions out. I’d expect one-year deals down the stretch, as the team will not commit to Brady long term as he gets older.

With this news, the Patriots should absolutely look to trade Jimmy Garoppolo for first and second round picks. Six or seven years is too long for Jimmy G to wait to become the QB of the future. In all likelihood, Jacoby Brissett won’t be the next starter for New England either.

Robert Kraft said he also hopes Bill Belichick coaches for many more years.

"“I hope he coaches into his 80s. I see Warren Buffett and Rupert Murdoch in their mid-80s and they’re performing well,” Kraft added."

Belichick is 64 years old currently.

What’s The Deal With Malcolm Butler

More from New England Patriots

Malcolm Butler has still not signed his restricted free-agent tender, but he also has not signed an offer sheet with any other team. The New Orleans Saints have become the front-runner for Butler’s services. Robert Kraft wants the cornerback to stick around in New England.

"“I hope he’s with us and signs his [tender] and plays for us. … I don’t want to, in any way, take away from his rights, I want to be clear. I hope he’s with us,” Kraft said, via the Boston Globe."

The deadline for free agents to sign their tender is April 21st.

A Revis Comeback

Robert Kraft also said that he would welcome cornerback Darrelle Revis back to the Patriots with open arms. Revis was released by the Jets, and so far he’s only been linked to New England for 2017.

"“I would love it. Speaking for myself, if he wanted to come back, he’s a great competitor, I’d welcome him if he wanted to come,” Kraft said, via Gary Myers of the New York Daily News."

Ultimately it would be Bill Belichick’s decision to bring Revis back, though. The comeback may be dependent on how the Malcolm Butler situation plays out.

The New England Patriots will contend for Super Bowls for years to come with Tom Brady at the helm, and a defense with Butler would be ideal.
