Boston Bruins Will Face Ottawa Senators in First Round of Stanley Cup Playoffs
The First Round matchups for the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs are set and the Boston Bruins will face the Ottawa Senators, with Game One on Wednesday.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs will start on the road for the 2017 Boston Bruins. The team will head to Ottawa for a Round One matchup with the Senators.
Boston finished third in the Atlantic Division, while Ottawa placed second to earn the home ice advantage.
The Boston Bruins finish the season with a 44-31-7 record for 95 points. They also had a plus-22 goal differential in the regular season. For comparison, the top seeded Washington Senators were plus-84; Ottawa was minus-4.
It seems interim head coach Bruce Cassidy has turned the Bruins season around just enough, though this team likely won’t compete for the Stanley Cup. Cassidy has helped his case for the team to remove the interim title and to keep him around through 2017-18.

Boston returns to the playoffs after a two-year absence. The players are just as excited as the fans for this series and they’re hoping to make a deep run.
"“Everybody’s obviously excited to be back in the playoffs,” said Captain Zdeno Chara."
The team will surely be ready for the matchup with Ottawa, as they had Sunday off to rest. They’ll return to Warrior Ice Arena on Monday to get back to work.
"“We’re going to have some meetings and we’re going to get ready. I think that everybody has to get ready themselves; they have to realize what they have to do to be in the zone for the playoffs and it’s not necessarily that you have to have one-on-one meetings or kind of special meetings for that. You just need to know that it’s an important part of the year.”"
The Senators swept the Bruins 4-0-0 in the regular season, so Boston will look to flip the switch. Each regular season game was close, the Bruins just need to finish.
