While rumors continue to swirl about Richard Sherman and Malcolm Butler, the New England Patriots could look to sign newly released corner Jason McCourty.

The New England Patriots already have one McCourty in their secondary, safety Devin, but now his twin brother cornerback Jason is available.

Jason McCourty was released by the Tennessee Titans after eight seasons.

Instantly rumors flew that the McCourty brothers could be reunited in New England. Ian Rappaport fueled that fire with this tweet:

The Patriots mulled over a potential trade for Jason McCourty in the past, so the rumors are warranted.

More from New England Patriots

The twins have never played together in the NFL, and were last teammates in 2008 at Rutgers. The Titans drafted Jason in 2009, while New England selected Devin in 2010 (he redshirted as a freshman at Rutgers).

Jason was a sixth round pick, and though he has never been All-Pro, he has been the top corner for Tennessee almost since day one. In 2016, Jason played in 14 games with 69 tackles, two interceptions and 12 pass breakups.

Somehow now, it seems like the Patriots can end up loaded at corner. There’s the possibility of a Richard Sherman trade, but even without that the team would be in good shape. Stephon Gilmore is the team’s number one corner, Malcolm Butler will likely be the #2 and Jason McCourty would be a solid #3. The Patriots would then let Eric Rowe, Cyrus Jones and Justin Coleman compete for playing time. New England may also add a corner in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Only time will tell if Jason joins Devin in New England, but it’s a real possibility.
