The Boston Bruins are still alive in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs after forward Sean Kuraly scored his first two career NHL goals in 2OT win over Ottawa in Game 5.

Sean Kuraly came up huge for the Boston Bruins tonight as he kept their season alive.

The Ottawa Senators grabbed an early 2-0 lead, but the Bruins never stopped fighting. In the second period, David Pastrnak got things started with a goal on assists from Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron.

Kuraly then came through with his first career NHL goal to knot it up at 2 goals each.

The game then became a goaltender battle between Craig Anderson and Tuukka Rask. At times, Rask was magnificent, keeping the Boston Bruins hopes alive.

Rask stopped 41 of 43 shots tonight for a .953 save percentage. Ottawa’s Anderson saved 36 of 39 through it all.

Things got crazy in overtime, as each team came out guns blazing. The game looked as though it was being played at high speed, back and forth. The Bruins had two chances in the first overtime period to end the game. The first came when a Noel Acciari goal was waved off for goaltender interference.

The call was ridiculous, as Anderson was already falling backward before contact from Sean Kuraly. Kuraly was simply playing the rebound, which he has the right to do. Acciari muscled the puck into the net but the call on the ice was no goal. After review from Toronto, the call stood.

Later in the same period, there was a mad house around Ottawa’s net. The Ottawa forward seems to have fallen on the puck which should have, according to many twitter users including former NHL refs, resulted in a Boston Bruins penalty shot. That call was never made.

Still, the Bruins kept on pushing. Tuukka Rask continued to make incredible saves and the game headed to 2OT.

Things got heated in the period right off the bat. Patrice Bergeron pushed an Ottawa player right into the side of the net, putting the Senators on the power play just 36 seconds in.

Sean Kuraly then came up big with his second goal of the game, and his career, to win it all in overtime.
