For the first time in over a month the New England Revolution take home three points after embarrassing Real Salt Lake 4-0.

The New England Revolution were dominant in the rain, virtually sealing the game before the halftime whistle blew.

Attacking

The Revs made the best of their opportunity against struggling Real Salt Lake.  Offense was on fire all game, taking all but one of their 13 shots inside the box, eight of which were on target.

Before every fan had even found their seat the Revs were up 1-0.  Four minutes in Diego Fagundez crossed the ball into the box and onto the awaiting foot of Scott Caldwell.

More from Chowder and Champions

Kei Kamara doubled the lead 14 minutes later by heading home Lee Nguyen’s corner.

Fagundez had a foot of gold during the match and it was only fitting for him to get a goal too.  His came as a result of yet more impressive attacking by the Revs.

Finally, with only 41 minutes on the clock Lee Nguyen, with two assists in the game, drove one in himself.

With the way the attack had been keeping the team in games it was only a matter of time for Revs fans to see this scoreline.  The team is meshing well, and against a struggling RSL they had the perfect fuel to start the fire.

Defending

They kept solid in back as well as Real only managed three shots on goal in 90 minutes.

Over the past month the team has fallen apart right at the end of matches.  The attack tired out after half-time but the defense held their ground to finish the clean sheet.

Cody Crouper wasn’t troubled often, but made this great save to keep the doughnut on the board.

There really isn’t much to comment on when the opposing side had no chances.  Great play by the Revs’ defenders.

Looking forward

With that desperately needed spark the Revs will be visited by the Columbus Crew at 2:30 on the 21st.
