Boston Celtics All-Star point guard Isaiah Thomas is excited for the opportunity to lead his team Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the Washington Wizards.

Star players are made in Game 7s.  At least that is how Boston Celtics floor general Isaiah Thomas is approaching Monday night’s win or go home series finale against John Wall and the Wizards.

As the series shifts back to the TD Garden, the top-seeded Celtics have an opportunity to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  No matter what anyone thinks about their chances in a potential series against LeBron James, the feat will still be a great one for this version of the Boston Celtics.

A victory Monday night will also add to the legacy of Thomas, who isn’t feeling the pressure at all.  Great players need to play with ice water in their veins and the 5-foot-9 point guard appears to have just that heading into the Game 7 showdown.

"“I don’t believe in pressure,” Thomas told the media following Sunday’s practice, via WEEI.  “I work too hard to be scared of any type of pressure.  I’m treating it just like it would be Game 1.”"

A chance to be great

With a 53-point performance under his belt and after nearly leading the Celtics to a Game 6 victory, Thomas knows how to come up big.  However, this is his first Game 7 experience and it would be only human for him to have some jitters.  But, at least until tip off, excitement is fueling the point guard’s adrenalin.

"“The best players play at their best in those type of situations,” Thomas continued.  “You always think of Game 7s.  Those are exciting time.  I definitely, as a little boy, dreamed of being in a Game 7 and winning a Game 7.  And hopefully we can do that.  It would be so good for this city and so good for this team to win tomorrow night.”"

The odds are definitely in the Celtics favor.  The team has won the most NBA Game 7 matchups and are 18-4 at home.  To improve that record to 19-4, Isaiah Thomas has to come to play and his supporting cast has to show up and play the game the way they did in Game 5 and the second half of Game 6.

So, far in this series, they have played well at home.  Hopefully, the trend continues and team walks off the court Monday night as the next opponents of the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.
