New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is thrilled to be returning to the football field with old and new teammates after missing the majority of 2016 with a back injury.

It has been a very interesting offseason for the New England Patriots.  Not only has the team loaded up on offense with the acquisition of players like Brandin Cooks, Mike Gillislee and Rex Burkhead, All-Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski is making his way back to the field.

Despite his growing acting career (sarcasm) and many WWE appearances, Gronkowski is still very much in love with football.  That was made evident when he promised Patriots fans that he would be on the field when the team wins their sixth Super Bowl title.

So far, he has been looking good following season-ending back surgery.  His activity in OTAs and offseason workouts are good indications of a fully healthy Rob Gronkowski when the season starts.  That, along with the fact he hasn’t played in a while, has him pumped up to return to the game he loves.

"“Super excited.  It’s going super well,” Gronkowski told the media on Sunday in regards to his workouts, via ESPN.  “Being with the new teammates right now, working together, it’s awesome.”"

Feeling good and ready to go

As the Patriots prepare to hold their three-day mandatory minicamp beginning on Tuesday, Gronkowski will get a chance to show how far he has come after sitting out for so long with the injury.

Like previous seasons in which he had to work his way back, the record-setting playmaker is only focused on the positives.

"“You just have to always look at the positives,” Gronk said.  “Right now I’m feeling great.  I’m feeling good out there with the team.  We’re just at the stage right now, OTAs, offseason workouts, just getting to know each other, feeling it all out.  Everything is going good.  So I’m just happy to be where I am, happy to be out on the field playing football and participating.”"

Gronkowski will have a new incentive-filled contract to play for in 2017.  If he remains healthy and produces the way he has in previous seasons, he will be a very rich man at the end of the season.

Perhaps he will also hoist that sixth Lombardi Trophy along with the big pay day.
